On the night of February 23, 1982 the Danbury Fire Department lost two of their own. Lt "Butch" Melody and FF Joe Halas paid the ultimate price while fighting a fire in a warehouse on Osborne St. Although 25 years have passed since that tragic night, the loss is just as painful now as is was then. Fittingly then, hundreds of people, including Firefighters, families and friends, turned out to pay respect to two of Danbury's bravest.
